Job Title: Enablement Officer for People with Disabilities
Post Reference: IFA 125
Hours: 18 hours per week (this may include some evening/weekend work as required)
Duration: 12 months Fixed Term Contract
Grade: IFA Pay Scale 6/26 (£20119) pro rata
Closing Date: 5pm – 17th July 2009

Ideal for All is a not for profit company and registered charity run by and for disabled people in Sandwell. It provides a range of services to support disabled people, carers and disadvantaged groups to learn new skills and live as independently as possible.

We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Direct Payments Co-ordinator:

  • To develop a network of contacts with people with disabilities, living in the above mentioned 3 towns of Sandwell area by working with individuals, community groups and various organisations.
  • To be the ‘positive voice’ for people with disabilities in the community and work specifically with vulnerable and seldom heard voices and to specifically target areas of disability inequality.
  • To engage with local community groups and organisations to raise issues and concerns, which affect their disability and quality of life and to make referrals on to other services as appropriate for their independent living needs.
  • To work with partner agencies and volunteers contributing to wider partnership working, to ensure the needs and concerns of people with disabilities are represented at all levels.
  • To provide practical support and advice to individuals.
  • To support the Public Relations Officer in increasing Ideal for All’s membership of people with disabilities, old and young alike, carers, families and disadvantaged groups within the local community.
  • To undertake delegated public relations duties and promote the image and services of the organisation at a local level.
  • To achieve the required outcomes of the SLA, as identified by the Public Relations Officer.
