Introduction to Service
The Employment & Skills Service is a support service for disabled people and disadvantaged groups in Sandwell, assisting them to become economically active in terms of work, further education and training. We provide a range of employment training and courses, including a high level of learning support. We have access to a wide range of equipment, adaptations and specialist software to support our service users.
Who can use the service?
The service is available to all disabled and disadvantaged people either living or looking for employment within the Sandwell & Dudley areas. We can help those looking to gain new skills to help find work and employers looking to recruit can also use the service. As well as providing information and advice on employment matters, the service can also be used by parents and professionals i.e. teachers, careers advisors, social and health workers and disability employment advisors.
What’s on offer by the team?
Both one-to-one and group sessions are available to anyone accessing the service. A member of the team will discuss with you your aims and aspirations, ensuring that all your employment or training needs are explored. An action plan of steps to be taken is created, and we will support you through it.

- Assistance with job application forms, writing a Curriculum Vitae and interview techniques.
- Personal Development Courses (Assertiveness, Confidence, Anxiety Management)
- Computer Courses for beginners and those who want to build on their existing skills.
- Literacy & Numeracy Courses
- Journey to work sessions.
- Employment & Skills training.
- Gardening courses and therapeutic gardening opportunities
- The service aims to provide appropriate information and advice on all issues relating to the employment of disabled and disadvantaged people.
- Information on Access to Work. (Financial and equipment support for employers)
- Ongoing support to employers and disabled employees.
Youth Club
All young people from the age of 14 to 25 not in education, employment or training are welcome to join Ideal for All’s youth group. This group’s aim is to encourage young people to gain as much independence as possible and is an avenue for peer support through leisure and educational activities.
